Dealing with Dangerous Weather: An Introduction

7/30/2020 (Permalink)

In New England, the weather changes at the drop of a hat. When the weather takes a serious turn, the last thing anyone wants is to feel unprepared. To help ease your worries we have put together a list of tips for dealing with dangerous weather. Each week for the next 4 weeks, we will be sharing a new tip that will hopefully leave you feeling a tad more at ease the next time bad weather strikes.

Be sure to head over to our Facebook page (@SERVPROofHaverhill) after you read each tip to share your thoughts with us. If you have any tips of your own, let us know! We love to talk with our friends in the community and hear what it is you have to say.

SERVPRO Helps The Hoarding Project

Richard Ciarletta of SERVPRO (far right) helps at an event put on by The Hoarding Project on April 29, 2017.

On April 29, 2017 SERVPRO of Haverhill/Newburyport joined forces with The Hoarding Project to help out on their Safety Day. SERVPRO's Richard Ciarletta donated his time and boxes for the event.

Safety Day is a term to talk about conducting a "modified clean-out" of a hoarded home. The goal of Safety Day is to ensure safety in a client's home. In other words, The Hoarding Project aims to make sure that a client can use and access his or her home in the way it was intended to be used without significant risk of harm to his or herself. The way they do this is through a carefully planned and structured, team-based approach to clearing "just enough" of the possessions in the home to create a safe living environment. This is done with the client's mental health and stress level during the process as the number one priority.

Amesbury Fire Department Open House

October is Fire Prevention Month!  In an effort to raise awareness about fire safety, local Fire Departments throughout Essex County hosted Open Houses at their Fire Stations.  SERVPRO and other local businesses worked in conjunction with the fire departments to provide refreshments, giveaways and most importantly fire safety education!  Fire truck tours, gear demonstrations, Sparky the Fire Dog and the Smoke House were some of the main attractions at these open houses.  Each year fires claim hundreds of lives throughout New England. Fire Safety Open Houses are geared towards educating the community in hopes of saving lives.  Congratulations and thank you to all the fire houses who went above and beyond to educate our community about fire safety and prevention.  SERVPRO is proud to be a part of such wonderful events!
